Renae Reynolds is an urbanist and researcher who works to advance equitable urban policies to improve the lives of historically overburdened, underserved, and underrepresented communities. She employs an intersectional approach to urban engagement. Renae has worked with the United States Forest Service to explore and understand the impacts of climate disasters and how participatory methods of urban greening could support more socially resilient communities as a means to prepare for and mitigate the future threats of climate change.
In her current position as a Transportation Planner for the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance Renae focuses on policy advocacy to transform New York’s transportation sector to achieve ambitious climate and equity goals. Renae leads the Statewide coalition ElectrifyNY with a mission to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in public transit, municipal fleets, and medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Her work is multidisciplinary and prioritizes the needs of environmental justice communities. Most importantly her work centers collaboration and values the intellect, experience, and expertise within these communities as equal to if not greater than members of the traditional urban professional fields.
Renae received her MA in Theories of Urban Practice at Parsons, The New School for Design.
